Hi Jean
There are obviously some very valid points on here, but I think Mary made a very important point when she said that if it had been anything really bad they'd have had you in the surgery straight away.
Please try not to worry, they probably expect the bloods to settle down, which is why they've asked for a repeat in a fortnight.

Hi all
Thanks so much for your re-assuring responses.
I've bitten the bullet and phoned.
The GP explained that the FBC's, U's and E's etc are all fine, and there is absolutely no need to panic at all. If there was anything "nasty" it would have shown up in the FBC readings.
The Reticulocytosis is a very probable indication of some sort of anaemia, although my HB levels are good at 14.7
The lab advised that I had the tests repeated in one month, but he said 2 weeks to put my mind at rest as he knew I would panic!!! I said he had panicked me more with his two weeks!!
Platelet clumps are usually due to something which happens during collecting the blood and the tests - again, there is absolutely nothing to indicate a problem elsewhere.
They are not at all worried about the funny sounding stuff - apparently it fluctuates a lot - but they want to repeat the reticulocytosis test t make sure I'm not anaemic.
So now I know!!!
Thanks a lot
Jeanxxx

I started to look all this stuff up on the internet and have given myself nightmares. Anyone have any ideas on all this? Crikey Jean, I've never heard of any of those! Sounds like they've made up those names. Glad your GP has given you reassurance. Carol

That is better news Jean. Possibly is a result of the nasty bug coming on top of the illness a few weeks ago.
Take care,

Very pleased you rang your GP, Jean, and got some peace of mind. The very names on your list would have frightened me to death, before I even got as far as Google!! Take care, Kathleen x

Hello Jean Horray that you are okay. And I must commend your spelling of all those long medical names. Why cant they name them something a bit less sinister like Polkadot and Chardonnay. it would be a bit easier to swallow. sorry madam you have not enough chardonnay in your blood..... or you have far too much chablais in your blood (chablais white cells, chardonay red cells) simple. Very happy that its a storm in a tea cup (oops thats Gordon Brown).
